In Bury St Edmunds, you don’t have to travel far to give your kids a proper theatre experience. During half term we discovered what the Theatre Royal are doing for families, and it was a lovely surprise.

They were performing The Tales of Acorn Wood, based on the Julia Donaldson books. Our daughter already loves the stories, but seeing the characters come to life on stage felt genuinely magical. What we didn’t expect was how captivated our one-year-old would be too! He barely took his eyes off the stage.

After the show we even picked up a book and a little badge from the theatre shop, which instantly became our little girl’s favourite souvenir. We’ve already booked our next visit to see The Gruffalo’s Child.

If you’ve got young kids and are looking for something special to do together, this is definitely worth knowing about.
